What are bolts?

Bolts are primarily a form of fastener with an external male thread which uses a matching preformed female thread such as seen in a nut. Both these elements can come in variety of sizes, shapes, and materials. In general, the bolt consists of three main elements which includes a head, shank, and threading.
Threaded bar is the exception to this due to the bar being much longer than conventional bolts and having the thread along its full length. It also does not have a bolt head, can be used with various fixings, and cut to the desired lengths.

What are bolts used for?

Bolts are used along with nuts and washers to secure two objects together. The bolt is a type of fastener with a threaded shaft and are closely related to screws. The bolts are inserted into various materials via aligned holes and the nut then screws onto the bolt which then provides the clamping force.
There are several types of bolts on the market with hex bolts the most well-known. Here at Fusion Fixings, we have an extensive and growing range of bolts in various materials and sizes.

What are the bolts manufactured from?

The bolts are manufactured from a variety of material including A2 stainless steel, bright zinc plated (BZP) steel, brass, and zinc plated steel. All offer levels of resistance to corrosion making them usable in both internal external situations, with the higher stainless-steel varieties used in the marine industries.
