Threaded Bar

A range of threaded bar at great prices

Threaded bar, also known as threaded rod or studding, is supplied at competitive prices and in lengths of 1-meter / 1000mm.

A bar with the thread along it's entire length that offers flexibility when conventional bolts are not long enough, as the threaded bar can be cut to length or extended with connector nuts.

Supplied in a variety of diameters, threads and materials, threaded bar has a number of industrial applications and is typically used across the building trade, general maintenance, plumbing, and electrical industries.

It's length also lends itself to being used to add stability to structures by tying them together during construction.

What is threaded bar?

Simply put, threaded bar is a length of metal bar produced in stainless steel, bright zinc plated steel and brass, which is threaded along its entire length.

What is threaded bar used for?

Threaded bar is primarily used within the building and plumbing industries to stabilise objects that are made from a broad range of materials. The threaded nature of the bar allows for the use of nuts and many other fixings to be screwed on to the bar easily. Supplied in 1-metre lengths, the bar can be cut to size where needed and joined together using connector nuts, making it very versatile.

What materials are used in the threaded bar?

The threaded bar here at Fusion Fixings is supplied in 3 main materials, these include A2 stainless steel, BZP - bright zinc plated and brass. Always remember to use comparable materials with the threaded bar. For example, if you are using stainless steel threaded bar, use stainless steel fixings etc.

A2 stainless steel threaded bar

A2 grade stainless steel is also referred to as 304 or 18/8 steel, due to the alloy being comprised of 18% chromium and 8% nickel. The higher level of chromium helps the alloy resist and prevent further spreading of corrosion and staining that may occur within certain types of applications. Our A2 stainless steel threaded bar are a great choice when a higher level of corrosion resistance is required.

BZP - bright zinc plated threaded bar

Zinc plated passivation is one of the more common finishes on steel products due to its affordable price and is readily available across most fixings and fasteners. The applied layer of zinc provides a galvanized protection to the steel helping to prevent oxidization. However, due to the coating only being thin, whilst it does provide resistance to moisture, it will struggle to prevent rusting when used outside for longer periods.

Brass threaded bar

Not the most common material used but threaded bar made from brass are highly resistant to rust and atmospheric corrosion. Brass threaded rod is also known for its ability to conduct electricity and can retain its shape, size, and tensile strength even when used in harsh environmental conditions.
